Karen Landen is a highly experienced retired high school mathematics teacher with over 22 years of tutoring and teaching secondary math, including Algebra 1 through Introduction to Calculus. Her philosophy is to build student confidence and content mastery through strong relationships and a focus on foundational algebraic concepts. Karen’s educational background includes teaching at Lake Zurich High School (Chicago suburb) which is a National Blue Ribbon School, and at The Bush School (Seattle). She holds a BS in Mathematics and Computer Science, a BA in Mathematics Secondary Education (Western Washington University, 1985), and a Master’s in Education Curriculum and Instruction (Olivet Nazarene University, 2009).
Prior to her tutoring and teaching, Karen has professional experience including over 8 years as a retirement services professional at an actuary firm in Bellevue, WA. Karen’s personal interests include outdoor activities, waterfront walks, and photography.
